Groundbreaking Women in Construction

Like many older U.S. cities, our nation’s capital infrastructure dates back to the early 1800s and their storm and wastewater treatment system is no longer able to accommodate heavy rain events, causing overflows of untreated waste into nearby rivers and streams. Architus’s work was recently featured in Point of Beginning magazine that explains how our use of virtual construction and geospatial technologies are allowing us to place two 160-foot-tall industrial facilities and related equipment underground into tunnel termination shafts to modernize the city’s storm and wastewater infrastructure and effectively reduce overflows.

MODERN EXTENSION TO BRICK HOUSE

The $2.5 million two-story 4,000-square-foot addition to the existing hospital will provide expanded Interventional Radiology services on the second floor with a new interventional imaging room as well as associated control, patient holding, exam, storage and system electronics spaces. Work also includes the renovation of 700 square feet of existing space and construction of the first floor shell space for future use. With the colder New England temps here, the Architus team is hoping for a mild winter to ensure efficient facilitation of the foundation and structural steel construction. Project completion is anticipated in August 2016.
